Today starts the journey of reading through the Psalmody of St. Benedict in a week. I mapped out the Psalmody based on a number of different chapters of St. Benedict's Rule, which is a plan to read through all the Psalms in a week. A weak attempt, according to Benedict, compared to the Desert Fathers in Egypt, who would do it in a day. I will be posting the day's readings each day if you would like to follow along with me. I'm not going to strictly follow the Hours, but will probably combine Lauds and Prime, and Compline and Vigils. Would love to hear if anyone else is dong this with me and how it goes.
Today's readings:
{Dawn} Lauds – 67, 51, 118, 63, 148 - 150
{7am} Prime – 4 Sections of 119 (1-4) (A Section is one Hebrew letter)
{9am} Terace – 3 Sections of 119 (5-7)
{Noon} Sext – 3 Sections of 119 (8-10)
{3pm} None – 3 Sections of 119 (11-13)
{Sunset} Vespers – 110, 111, 112, 113
{Bedtime} Compline – 4, 91, 134
{Midnight/2am} Vigils – 3, 95, 21 – 32

Wow, that's really amazing. Nice work on that. ...I heartily agree, my cousin. We should connect sometime soon. What is your schedule like these days? (I realize I could call or text or tweet to work this out...you know, some less public forum...but with all the ways to communicate these days...why not the comment section of your blog??)
