Monday I decided to stay late at work and head over to Ascension for Evening Prayer, in an attempt to meet this Scott character. I spoke with him for a bit afterwards to find out that he usually doesn't lead Monday Evening Prayer, that he was filling in for someone. 'Lucky' for me that I got to meet him.
Scott suggested that I meet Sister Mary, one of the nuns who attends prayer and is one of the nuns connected with the church. This morning as I was walking out of the El station I am greeted, in stride, by Sister Mary. 'Lucky' for me she was there.
Peace,

Wow...what "luck"! :) So glad you've met Sr. Mary Cecilia. She's holy, nice, and surprisingly hip. The Order of St. Anne's Chicago convent currently houses four nuns: the very elderly Reverend Mother (Emerita?) Margaret Mary, (currently serving) Reverend Mother Judith Marie, Sister Barbara Louise, and Sister Mary Cecilia. They're hoping to attract some new inquirers to the community and may have a Web site soon. Their order has its main house in Arlington, Mass. The convent here used to run a school, the Ascension Parochial School. They pray Matins, Lauds, Terce, Sext, Vespers, and Compline in their convent chapel, and Rev. Mother Judith Marie and Sr. Mary Cecilia also officiate several times a week at the parish Daily Office.
And I don't know whether it was Fr. Kurt Olson or someone else who said, when someone wished him good luck, "I don't need luck; I have Jesus." Amen.
