Sorry for not Posting

For those of you on gchat, I apologize. I will be posting at least once a week from here on out. Keep checking in.

Things that have kept me busy:
Getting engaged to the most amazing woman, Emily
Reading the rest of the Golden Compass books
Reading the Spiderwick Chronicles
Working at Starbucks and LaSalle Street Church
Reading my B-I-B-L-E, because it is the book for me
Not sleeping

Tonight is our first night of 'Family Time' at our Breaking Bread ministry. For those of you who don't know, Breaking Bread is our church's (LaSalle Street Church) homeless ministry. We serve a meal to our guests, about 70, on Wednesday nights, give out some CTA passes, and have a good time. It starts at 7:15. However, starting this week, we are letting out guests in at 6:00 for some coffee, paper reading, chillin', etc. At 6:30 we start devotions. I'm leading devotions each 3rd Wednesday of the month, and am pretty excited. Another step on the journey of what it means to follow Jesus in this messed up world.

As you saw above, I've been reading a lot. I haven't quite finished The Amber Spyglass, the third Golden Compass book. Overall, the third book isn't all that great. Too many story lines that don't work together in one book. Pullman tried to do too much and failed. The series is pretty good though. Should Christians read them or be scared of them? Definitely shouldn't be scared, only read them if you like reading. I'm doing the whole 'read through the Bible in a year' thing this year. I found a cool site that let you do it chronologically, at least according to their time table of how things happened. Did you know that Noah was on the ark for 375 days? Crazy stuff.

Well, that's all for now. More will be coming. For real this time.

Peace,
Dr. D
