I said I was going to blog more. I will. I'm working on it. Here is a quick update about what has been going on, what I've been thinking about, etc.
-I'm reading through a few books right now. Tony Jones' The Sacred Way, which is about ancient spiritual practices/disciplines like silence and solitude, sacred reading, the Iganatian Examen, etc. I'm also reading The Road Less Traveled by M. Scott Peck, a book on spiritual journey through the eyes of a psychiatrist. Peck's book begins with talking about discipline, so that has been a common theme in my life recently. I'm working on being more disciplined with my time, to work out, pray, read the Bible a bit more regularly and disciplined, spend time with those I care about, write, blog, etc. I also just bought and started The Golden Compass by Philip Pullman, which should prove to be a good time.
-Starbucks is Starbucks. I've been French brewing coffee at church on Wednesdays and Fridays. I like the Christmas Blend, but French Roast is my favorite. Italian Roast is good too, but my least favorite of the three. Once these are gone, we're moving onto the Ubora I have.
-LaSalle Street Church and youth directing is going along. I had the chance to talk to a buddy of mine doing a very similar thing out in Boston and we agreed on the difficulty of settling into this gig and the greatness of it.
-I will be home for Christmas from the 21st to the 26th, which I'm super excited about. Should be a good rest before starting up a new year of fun.
-More on my disciplines and trying to be more intentional of my spiritual life/journey specifically with silence and solitude and the Dessert Father's and Mother's practices soon.
Peace out, friends.
